2019 Honda Passport Receives NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recognized the 2019 Honda Passport with its highest possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score as part of its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).*

This makes the Passport the latest 2019 Honda vehicle to earn an NCAP 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from this organization.** The Honda models are able to earn these high safety ratings thanks to the Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This structure utilizes front-frame structures to absorb and deflect the energy created by a frontal collision.

Another aspect of the Passport that helped it achieve this recognition was the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies. Every Passport comes with this safety suite, helping increase awareness of your surroundings when you’re behind the wheel. It comes with Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), a Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).***

The Honda Sensing® technologies also come standard on the 2019 Accord, Insight, Pilot, Civic, and Clarity lineup.**** Currently, 85 percent of all new Honda vehicles sold in 2019 have had this technology, and the brand has sold over 2.1 million vehicles equipped with it since it was first introduced in 2015.

ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather, or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function. Driver remains responsible for slowing or stopping the vehicle to avoid a collision.

LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, road conditions, and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
