2019 Honda Passport Receives NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating

2019 Honda Passport | Kansas City, MO
2019 Honda Passport | Kansas City, MO

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recognized the 2019 Honda Passport with its highest possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score as part of its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).*

This makes the Passport the latest 2019 Honda vehicle to earn an NCAP 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from this organization.** The Honda models are able to earn these high safety ratings thanks to the Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This structure utilizes front-frame structures to absorb and deflect the energy created by a frontal collision.

Another aspect of the Passport that helped it achieve this recognition was the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies. Every Passport comes with this safety suite, helping increase awareness of your surroundings when you’re behind the wheel. It comes with Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), a Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).***

The Honda Sensing® technologies also come standard on the 2019 Accord, Insight, Pilot, Civic, and Clarity lineup.**** Currently, 85 percent of all new Honda vehicles sold in 2019 have had this technology, and the brand has sold over 2.1 million vehicles equipped with it since it was first introduced in 2015.

Stop by Honda of Tiffany Springs to see the Passport in person.

*Government 5-Star Safety Ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov). Model tested with standard side airbags (SAB).

**2019 Civic Type R, Clarity series and CR-V not yet tested

***CMBS™ cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. System designed to mitigate crash forces. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

Road Departure Mitigation only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle’s departure from a detected lane. RDM may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, road conditions, and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

ACC cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, and other factors. ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather, or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function. Driver remains responsible for slowing or stopping the vehicle to avoid a collision.

LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, road conditions, and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

Honda Highlights 2019 Honda HR-V’s Safety at New York International Auto Show

2019 Honda HR-V | Kansas City, MO

Automotive shows consist of big brands introducing brand-new models. However, Honda took a different approach at the New York International Auto Show this year. Rather than highlighting new vehicles — like the 2019 Passport — the Japanese carmaker revealed a refreshed 2019 HR-V, which recently passed a safety crash test with IIHS.

In this display, the HR-V highlighted a vehicle’s experience in a crash — and what it looks like afterward. It showed the compact crossover’s structural strength, airbag deployment, and the progression of its safety technologies.

The 2019 Honda HR-V received recognition for safety when IIHS named the vehicle a 2019 Top Safety Pick with the Honda Sensing® technology and certain headlights. When put through the paces of the IIHS crash tests, the HR-V earned the highest available rating of “Good” in all six tests. It also achieved a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention with the available Honda Sensing®.

Honda has seven models in its 2019 model year lineup that have earned Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ ratings from the IIHS. This includes the Insight, Accord, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey, and Ridgeline.

Test-drive any of these safe vehicle at Honda of Tiffany Springs, and learn more about the safety and technology features that come in these models.
